The Office of Prevention and Well-being Education hosts prevention programming throughout the year. Below are examples of prevention programming.

Signature Events

Awareness Months and Weeks

The Office of Prevention and Well-being Education coordinates campus-wide programming for Domestic Violence (October), Stalking (January), and Sexual Assault (April). Throughout the month there will be in-person events and social media campaign. In addition, the office coordinates or helps to coordinate National Hazing Prevention Week, Red Ribbon Week and Healthy Relationships Week. 

Denim Day

Taking place in April, as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month is Denim Day. Denim Day is a worldwide day to show support for survivors of sexual assault. People across the world wear denim in response to a 1999 Italian Supreme Court Case. The Supreme Court ruled that a rape conviction be overturned because the justices thought that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans and thus implied consent. The next day women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans. ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ has celebrated Denim Day since 2022.

Time to Ungrind

Time to Ungrind is a movement to fight back against hustle and grind culture. It is about taking time for ourselves and promoting well-being of ourselves and our community. This campaign recognizes that all of us have a lot of demands placed upon ourselves but we need to make sure that we are taking care of us too. It’s about learning new things, taking time to relax or prioritizing our well-being. Throughout the semester there are different activities and events that encourage us to take a break. 

Programming

Consent and Beyond

• This interactive presentation covers what consent is and provides opportunities for practicing ways to get consent. In addition, personal boundaries and why they are important for healthy relationships are also explored.

Behind the Post

• Many times, what we see on social media is not a true representation of what’s going on in real life. A couple may look picture-perfect online, but amazing social posts are not what makes or breaks a relationship. As you will see in this film, healthy relationships involve a lot more than that. This program was developed by the One Love Foundation.

Green Dot Bystander Intervention

• Green Dot Overview Speeches can be requested for your class or organization. These presentations talk about how community members can engage in culture change through violence prevention. The speech can be adjusted to meet your time requirements.

Healthy Relationships

• Focusing on the One Love Foundation’s 10 Signs of a Healthy and Unhealthy Relationships, this presentation introduces participants to characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships. Participants engage in discussions with their peers for a deeper understanding of relationships.

Supporting Others

• Whether or not we know it, everyone knows someone who has been affected by sexual assault, dating and domestic violence and stalking. This presentation shares ways that we all can support people who have experienced these forms of harm.

Introduction to Sexual Assault, Dating and Domestic Violence, and Stalking

• This presentation discusses the basic facts and statistics of sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking. This presentation can be adapted to meet the needs of the specific group requesting the training.

Trivia/Jeopardy

• Healthy relationships, consent, bystander intervention and other topics can be presented in a trivia or jeopardy style program.

Time to Ungrind

• Self-care activities that incorporates information on healthy relationships, consent, bystander intervention and other topics.
